PRIMARY PURPOSE
*This position is based in Camps
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Detailed Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present dishes according to minimum standards.
- Ensure that meals are ready on time and served at the correct temperature.
- Ensure that all food preparation areas and equipment are clean and hygienic before and after use.
- Cleaning of all storerooms, ovens and other cooking equipment
- Ensure that only recipes provided are used and no other.
- Prepare snacks, cakes and biscuits for the coffee table and for the guides for game drives. Ensure that they are ready in time to take them on activities and are as per minimum standards.
- Reporting on maintenance problems, breakages, fire and health hazards, security risks, accidents, lost and found, shortages and unusual events.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by the supervisor / manager.
REQUIREMENTS
- Three (3) years' experience as a chef
- Certificate in Culinary or level 2 will an added advantage
- Understanding of simple instructions in English or Afrikaans.
- Communicating using good interpersonal skills, being able to relate well to peers and superiors.
- Must be able to read a recipe.
- Cooking skills and methods.
- Correct preparation of food.
- Alternative cooking for vegetarian and other special needs.
- Team player.
