CHIEF GROUND INSTRUCTOR
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Chief Ground Instructor is responsible for overseeing and managing the ground training programs for pilot training at the aviation facility. This role requires extensive knowledge and experience in aviation training, as well as the ability to lead and mentor a team of ground instructors.
The Chief Ground Instructor will work closely with the Chief Flight Instructor to ensure a comprehensive and effective training program for student pilots.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement ground training curriculum for all pilot training courses in accordance with the Training and Procedures Manual and in terms of the applicable requirements prescribed by the Civil Aviation Authority and the Authorized Training Organization Certificate
- Supervise a team of ground instructors and provide guidance and support in delivering effective instruction to students.
- Conduct regular evaluations of ground training programs to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Coordinate with the Chief Flight Instructor to ensure consistency between ground and flight training programs.
- Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for ground instructors to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress and achievement in ground training.
- Collaborate with other aviation department staff to ensure a cohesive and coordinated training program for students.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in aviation training to continually improve the ground training program.
- Assist with line flight duties as may be required from the AOC.
MINIMUN REQUIREMENTS
- Flight Instructor license and or
- Bachelor's degree in aviation or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a ground instructor in an ATO.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic aviation training environment.
- Proficiency in aviation training software and technology.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Knowledge of BCARS and industry best practices in aviation training will be an added advantage.
