FLIGHT OPERATIONS SCHEDULER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To ensure efficient and cost-effective scheduling of Wilderness and third-party passengers.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Flight Schedulers are directly responsible to the Operations Manager for the development of daily flight schedules.
  2. Flight Schedulers are responsible for:
a) The finalisation, tying up, publication, distribution, control and execution of the company’s daily flight schedule
b) Ensuring all relevant personnel, pilots and camps are notified promptly of any changes to the schedule.
c) Compilation, publishing and distribution of daily pilot briefings, highlighting scheduling requirements, special needs passengers, Cargo loadings, aircraft maintenance requirements and any other relevant information.
d) Sub-contractors aircraft are booked, confirmed and cancelled as required and camps and personnel are notified of these aircraft
e) ATS flight plans have been filed as require
f) Crew overnights and meals are booked as required.
g) Flight crew are correctly allocated to the schedule considering:

- Validity and currency of required licenses, medicals and ratings

- Flight and duty limitations, leave and off day schedules.
h) Aircraft are correctly allocated to the schedule considering:

- Route, airstrip and fuel requirements

- Weight and seat number limitations
i) Maintenance / serviceability status and any scheduled maintenance requirements
j) Flight locating is carried out in accordance with the company flight locating procedures and the Company Emergency Response Procedures are initiated and followed as required.
k) Any other tasks and duties that may be assigned by management.

3.Flight Schedulers play an active and important role in the Company’s Safety and Quality Management Systems and must:
a) Actively seek, identify and report hazards to the air operation;
b) Investigate the root cause of hazards when assigned to do so;
c) Notify the Operations and Safety Managers of any issues regarding the safety of the Company’s air operation.

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school level
  • Diploma in Travel and Tourism or at least 2 years’ experience in tourism
  • At least three years’ experience in the aviation and or tourism sector
  • Knowledge of Schedwin software or similar
  • At least one year experience on guest relations
