PRIMARY PURPOSE
The main purpose of the country RFO is to work closely with and support, the Business Unit Leaders at a strategic / business level by providing financial insights that will underpin decision making. Additionally, responsible for all financial, risk management and fiscal management aspects of the company’s operations.
This position is based in Rwanda.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Leadership: Be an effective business partner. Give advice and counsel as well as provide a voice of reason. Creating a top talent pipeline to ensure the right people and leadership skills are in place within the finance function.
- Operations: Provide an independent perspective and constructively challenge the commercial and operations teams, ensuring that business decisions are grounded in solid financial insights.
- Controls: Ensure adequate assessment and mitigation of risk as well as compliance with applicable regulatory or other legal requirements.
- Strategy: Support strategy development and helping enable its execution, and assist in prioritizing and ensuring that the strategy is funded.
- Reporting, tax planning, forecasting and scenario planning.
- Talent management and team building.
- Funding and cash flow management.
- Relationship management, corporate governance and risk management.
- Responsibilities:
- Support the MD and other functional units in decision making and in pursuit of overall business goals.
- Implement operational and financial system best practices.
- Manage the accounting, investor relations, legal, tax and treasury functions of the business
- Assist in formulation of, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of business and financial strategies and supporting tactical initiative
- Forecasting and financial modelling.
- Review and approve issuance of all financial information including lagging and leading business indicators
- Report financial results to Executive Team and Business Unit Leaders
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile
- Review capital structures and arrange for debt and equity financing where necessary.
- Plan and coordinate the external audit, review audit packs, audited financial statements and tax computations and returns.
- Keep abreast of tax and IFRS changes.
- Oversees payroll.
- Oversees procurement.
- Develop and foster a culture of excellence through training, coaching, mentoring regular staff performance reviews and linking performance to rewards.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Qualification:
- ACCA/ACA/CA qualification or equivalent.
Experience:
- 5 years-experience in a senior-level financial position
- Computer Literate (Microsoft Office, email, Internet)
- Proven English literacy.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Skills:
- Agile, flexible and ability to work with and across teams, build relationships and continuously deal with change and complexity.
- Ability to analyse information, forecast, model and communicate business and financial insights.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution.
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems, a high level appreciation of Tour Plan, Acumatica and Tagetik will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of contracting and negotiation.
- Good command of professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
